Re: “Richmond Residents Revolt at Bike Meeting

I went to the meeting. I was so encouraged by the number of other Richmond city residents that were in attendance. I was however not encouraged by those that spoke out of turn and did not follow the process set forth in the meeting. While I am for safer biking, walking, and driving in the city of Richmond, I am not sure if I am for the Floyd Avenue project specifically. I am a resident of the Fan/Byrd Park and work downtown. I routinely walk as many places as possible but do not feel safe riding my bike. If I did feel safer biking, I am sure that I would ride my bike to more places in the Fan, the Northside, Carytown, the Near West End and Downtown thus freeing up coveted parking spaces. I hope Richmonders will feel encouraged to have public discourse on this issue. Though if history is the best predictor of future behavior I am not encouraged by the last public meeting.
