Re: “Deejay Gray, 25

Hi, my name is Kelsey Cordrey. I have been a company member with TheatreLAB almost since its inception and my life has changed for the better because of it. I also consider Deejay to be one of my best friends and one of the people I can depend on most to come to my defense or to, ya know, just be a nice person. So I feel it's my duty to return the favor.

I, for one, don't think Deejay's personal life should be fodder for the comments section of an article in a magazine. What he chooses to do with his free time - which, by the way, is nothing to be ashamed of - is his business. He is a consummate professional, and I can say from experience that working with his and Annie's company is an actor's dream. They are kind, supportive, and unwaveringly professional. They also continue to produce works that spark conversation and build new audiences. That is why he was chosen as a recipient of this award, and any other information is irrelevant.

I also think that fingers shouldn't have been pointed immediately. I also had my suspicions as to who the author of the nasty and just-plain-wrong comments is. I didn't say anything because I believe in being innocent until proven guilty and I like to take people at their word. However, I will say to you, Stephen, that the little post above does not excuse the fact that you have spread untrue stories about Deejay to anyone who would listen without ever apologizing to him, and that you have judged other people (myself included) unfairly just for being his friend or working with his company. I would normally say something to you about that privately in another forum, but as you have blocked me on facebook without warning or cause, I have had no way to contact you.

But that's neither here nor there.

Deejay is a good, kind person who does not deserve this negative attention. Whoever James Bowden is, I only hope for his sake that one day he will be able to really meet Deejay for who he is, and realize that he was wrong. We all have misconceptions about people. The only thing that separates being malicious and being human is an apology.
