Re: “Now Developing: How 11 Richmond Public Spaces Are Being Re-Imagined for Better or for Worse

The James River is our city's major asset and Bridgepark and TTyler Potterfield Bridge projects should be at the top of city government's to do list. Both these projects would benefit locals and be an additional draw for tourism. It's time Richmond's public sector reflected the progressive vision of our private sector.

Re: “As the Bridge Turns

I have been to numerous cities that have beautifully developed their river and canal fronts with public spaces, pedestrian bridges, museums and cafes. These areas are vibrant zones for social and economic activity for locals and visitors. Richmond City government should focus its development efforts on the James River and this bridge project would be a positive step in that direction. I addition, I would advocate for completion of a pedestrian public loop trail from the Manchester Bridge west to the Huguenot Bridge and back east along the river’s south side. Use the power of eminent domain as necessary to create an uninterrupted continuous trail for hikers and bikers. Projects that enhance the James River experience would further Richmond’s tourism appeal far more than expensive sports destinations like a Redskins Training Camp.

Re: “Airbnb Hosts Get Rude Awakening

We have stayed in Airbnb apartments all over the world and their hosts are excellent ambassadors to promote local tourism. Most Airbnb hosts are more motivated to educate visitors on what their communities have to offer than on business profits. Any initiative to regulate and tax Airbnb offerings is pure ignorance regarding their benefit to the community and only stifles innovation and entrepreneur by individuals trying to make a positive difference.

Re: “City Explores Tax on Richmond Airbnb Rentals

Another greedy city maneuver. This is already taxable as extra income. Please do something worthwhile for the rest of us.

Re: “Space Bomb

When will city hall catch up with city culture...Redskins and baseball will never enhance Richmond like the Arts, the James River and craft beer
