Re: “Capital One Moving into Carytown

Well, there goes the Neighborhood…just what Cary Street needs - another faux-bank with a Cafe and bogus "work-space" and more Wi-Fi for the Metro-Textuals to sit and uncommunicate with each other…and the "bank" thinks that the texters who go there will "talk" to the roving CapOne employees who will be looking for more monied "guests"? Since the concept of a "customer" has been replaced with the offensive term "consumer" and there is no incentive to bank there (no one has any money left after paying off, or trying to pay off, or defaulting on their college loans) nor a product that can actually be consumed - other than high-priced coffee - *burnt, from Starbucks?" - you can guarantee that the only ones who are celebrating this "new model" are the building owners - who now can sit back and laugh all the way to their bank - and I guarantee it isn't a CapOne bank…

As far as CapitalOne's contributions to the community - if you want to act, dress. live, breathe and drink the koolaid corporate culture, only to find yourself as a "last one in - first one out" employee, then revel in this "new model" that adds little to the diversity and uniqueness to Cary Street, and displaces locals who have struggled and worked hard to build up their business - then take your iWhatever device and join the banksters and their guests…

My condolences to Secco, Sheppard Street Antiques and any other retailer who is being displaced by this corporate profiteering behemoth.

The best thing loyal Carytownites can do is avoid the place like the plague it is.
