The Heat is On

John Corbett is getting his share of airtime not only on commercials for Ford this summer, but also in made-for-TV movies. The latest for the actor who made his bones on "Northern Exposure" is "The Sky's on Fire."

Josie Bissett ("Melrose Place") co-stars in an ABC-TV original about a suspenseful race against time. The premise is that a hole in the earth's protective ozone layer is moving toward Los Angeles, and only a young, renegade scientist can protect the city from the sun's deadly powers.

Corbett, you'll recall, played a renegade scientist of sorts in the TBS movie "On Hostile Ground" last month.

In the ABC movie, which airs Saturday, July 15, at 8 p.m., Los Angeles and Mexico are in the grips of a heat wave that is frying human and animal life.
