Re: “On the Map

The tipping point for Richmonds restaurant scene was Jimmy Sneads Frog and the Redneck. I believe they were open from 1993-2001. Nates deserves praise for their bagels and service, nice article.

Re: “Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax denies sexual assault allegation in tweeted statement

My comment about the oral exam was censored. Was it offensive? In bad taste? Then again StyleWeekly has the right to be the arbiter of style and taste.

Re: “The Black and White of Gray’s World

RPS were a disaster when Mr. Bedden was hired and they remain dysfunctional. Cheating to obtain Blue Ribbon Status. He still had 7 RPS school board members on his side, and the reason he was fired is still a secret. My concern isnt with Mr. Bedden, although his employment is a symptom of inept governance in Richmond. For over a year Forest Hill Ave is a mess, constant digging to replace, repair and then dig up the same pavement over again. Basic services are not being met in Richmond, that includes the maintenance of our schools and parks. Try getting any answers from DPW regarding a utility bill, youll be on hold for 30 minutes. Email doesnt work, their website errors out. We pay the highest property taxes in the area and receive 3rd world service!

Re: “The Black and White of Gray’s World

A lot of people were duped by Dana Bedden because they failed to conduct a proper background search. As a member of the Richmond School Board she shares in the failure of Dana Bedden. He was a con man. Hopefully if Ms. Gray or any City Councilperson is confused, bewildered or suspicious of the 1.4 billion dollar proposal theyll either vote against it of hire a firm to evaluate the risks of the proposal. I live in a city where high dollar projects, that fail, cost the citizens millions of dollars and I cant get answers from DPW about the accuracy of a utility bill.

Re: “The Black and White of Gray’s World

Hopefully shell do a better job at vetting the 1.4 B fiasco in waiting project than her vetting of Dana Bedden and his disastrous tenure as RPS Super. I have no faith in politicians with little or no business experience deciding the financial future of Richmond. Focus on fixing the schools and maintaining what we have roads and parks. Stop going after the bright shiny objects - 6th street, Main Street station, meals tax hikes, etc.

Re: “OPINION: After decades, a writing teacher returns to deer hunting and reflects on its future

I started hunting, upland game, in November. After 3 hours in the autumn sunlight we killed 4 pheasants and 3 chuckers. Some of the game was eaten at thanksgiving and the rest waits in the freezer. Once you put your mind to it pulling the trigger is pretty easy. Kind of like Richmonds current gun problem, but thats another topic. My 1948 Browning Sweet Sixteen semi performed well too. Like you, I went to Greentops for my new hunting vest and was pleased after asking a fellow hunter if it made me look too fat. Her response was kind encouragement. Thank you for another enjoyable read.

Re: “Newcomer Abigail Spanberger Takes 7th District Seat from Dave Brat

Appears confident, intelligent and analytical. Hope she represents all residents of the 7th District. My big wish is that Congress enact data privacy laws to reign in Google, Facebook, Twitter and Amazon. I dont foresee my monthly health insurance dropping below 1,149 each month or AR-15s classified as assault weapons.
