Re: “Richmond Shakespeare Pulls CenterStage Shows

Jason - Yes. Building an endowment is a step in the process that has not been completed, nor has it been abandoned.

Re: “Richmond Shakespeare Pulls CenterStage Shows

BLK - SMG is a contractor hired by the Board of the Richmond Performing Arts Center LLC ("RPAC") and has no direct control over who books at CenterStage. Booking policies are set by the RPAC Board. SPARC has performed shows at the Gottwald, and on June 3, produced a unique and innovative show called Live Art on the main Carpenter Theatre stage. Yes, SPARC will continue to stage and produces shows at CenterStage.

Scott - more than 40 not-for-profit performing arts and visual arts organizations worked collaboratively to develop the CenterStage project. It remains a good project and worthy of support from both the artists, and the public. "Damage" from CenterStage? There is none.

Re: “Questions Linger Over City's Denver Outsourcing

The Public Procurement laws make it difficult to target a particular geographic area with an open solicitation. The request for proposals sets out the specific criteria a firm must meet to be considered. The responses of firms interested in the project must be evaluated objectively and must be based solely on the information provided in their submittal, without regard for anything someone knows about a firm outside of that submittal. Consequently, a firm such as Atlas can provide a high quality submittal in response to an open RFP and come out ahead of a local firm. Geographic location of a firm is only one criterion out of many in the RFP.
