Re: “Nineties Rockers King Sour Reuniting

Taxi Driver, except extremely polite, well mannered, I would expect actually nicer than DiNero, although I have never met Bob, but Austin was always a gent! One of the most pleasant bartenders on the RVA scene. I recall he worked at another bar though, was it Hard Times, or somewhere in the Fan?

Back in the day!

What ever happened to Bob Hard Times? Last time I saw him he was kicking Day Goodwin's ass in a chess match at the Village Cafe.

Good times!

That's going to be a great show!

Re: “The Frustrating, Depressing, Embarrassing Story Behind Richmond City Hall’s Mind-Numbing Financial Mayhem

I was w/ city for 5 years. They never promote from within. I worked with great engineers pasted over for more than a decade while they scraped the bottom of the barrel for the next candidate from another city. I got past over for an operations manager position and the woman they hired, via phone interview from Atlanta, was only on the job for a few weeks then was indicted in Atlanta.

It was truly bizarre.

Re: “Marijuana Party Lights Up in Richmond

As soon as the Republicans take the WH in 2016, POTUS will start enforcement of Federal law prohibiting possession or manufacturing of marijuana.

All that investment in pot growing will end in the incarnation of thousands of pot growers, sellers and users.

Possession of marijuana is still a crime under Federal law, the law of the land, and the lawyers will get rich once they turn on every pothead on the USA.

You didn't think you would, ever, win did you?

Re: “Runneth to the Cup

NPR did a news piece on peer-reveiwed research paper on the cost of all the new drug test testing in the 1990s. They claimed it cost $80,000 per positive test for a Fortune 500 Company.

I worked for a municipality department of almost 700 people and was tested when I accepted the position, then again less than 1 month after I started. They claimed it was "random"! Yeah right! What are those odds? 1/700!

I didn't mind because it was a condition of employment. What I did mind was the fact that other city employees are not tested! Guess who they are! The police!

After the Ferguson murder don't we all think it is high time, no pun intended, to randomly test our police force for illicit steroid use?

How many must die at the hands of the police before we demand a police force free of illicit steroids!

Think about about it!

What is good for the goose...........

Re: “Nothing Ruled Out for Prime Downtown Lot

Thanking the universe my house near VCU sold and I am gone from the wretched RVA. RVA is/has been swarmed and stripped clean by carpetbaggers in an endless cycle from one administration to the next.

RVA will never be anything but a back water.
