Inspectah Deck

At this stage in the hip-hop game, if you’re a New City rapper or DJ and aren’t affiliated with the Wu Tang Clan in some form or fashion, it’s truly a mystery of chessboxin’. A founding member of the influential rap collective, Inspectah Deck (aka Jason Hunter) is one of the most important bricks in the house that Wu built. Known primarily for his ability to spin a memorable yarn, his intricate verse is immediately identifiable on the group’s seminal 1993 debut, “Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)” and he keeps up a busy schedule inside and outside the group as a producer, solo artist and collaborator (“Czarface,” his 2013 collaboration with Boston-based hip-hop duo 7L & Esoteric, was considered by many to be best rap album of that year). Inspectah Deck brings his tireless rhythm and rhyme to the Broadberry on Friday, Oct. 3. Richmond stanza specialists Black Liquid and Noah O open. Doors open at 8 p.m. Admission is $10-$15. thebroadberry.com.
