I Need a Ridiculous Wig, Stat

Respected local businesspeople will don tights, masks, wigs and capes and race down the street Saturday, Sept. 15, on decorated hospital gurneys -- which is no weirder than competitive eating. The ninth annual Anthem Gurney Tourney will raise money for the Hospital Hospitality House of Richmond and the Pediatric Cancer Research Fund at the VCU Massey Cancer Center. The event also features a festival with face painting, a health fair and live music. Performers include the Hardin Thomas Band, The Whitlocks, Mariana Bell, Normal Norman, Hugh Dunn, Squeezebox and The Lost River. Festivities begin at 10 a.m. at Festival Park by the Richmond Coliseum.The gurney race starts at 12:30 p.m. Call 828-6901 or visit www.gurneytourney.org.
