Henricus Home School Day Natural Resources of the James River
Children 4 – 14 will experience a home-school program designed to help meet curriculum goals in a fun, interactive environment at a living history museum. Students will learn how the James River, also known as the Powhatan Flue, was important to the English and Powhatan inhabitants and how it continues to be important today. Students will be divided by age to work on appropriate activities and curriculum. “This is a great opportunity for our home school community to gather and learn about why the mighty James River was so important to both Powhatan Indians and English colonists 400 years ago,” said Charles L. Grant, executive director. “The James was the original interstate for travel and commerce and the program we present is both an educational and recreational way for home schooled children to learn about the importance of waterways both then and now." Registration is required by June 5 by calling 318-8797. Admission is $14 per student and $8 for accompanying adults.
