Red Light Rodeo

With 10 years of independent broadcasting under its belt, Richmond radio station WRIR-FM 97.3 starts its 11th year with a specialty beer release and a DJ and band showcase at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery on Friday, Jan. 2. Unlike the music, news and culture they champion, the WRIR X Belgian Style Pale Ale will be available in 6-ounce pours while supplies last. WRIR DJs Sean Lovelace (host of “Cosmic Slop,” airing Mondays, 1-3 a.m.) and DJ Carlito (host of “If Music Could Talk,” airing Sundays, 7-9 p.m.) get the festivities underway with classic and rare selections from their vast collections. After the prerecorded, dance-based proceedings, Richmond bands Red Light Rodeo and Chrome Daddy Disco perform before a reunion show by beloved hometown punk dorks Splork. The party for the rest of us begins at 4 p.m. Free. hardywood.com.
