Re: “Bad Buzz: Dominion Substation Plan Upsets Organic Farmers in Varina

Per Dominion's presentation at the Community Meeting on July 29th, this would be the 5th (FIFTH) substation in Varina, not the 2nd (second). The nearest substation to this location is 3.1 miles from it on Charles City Road.

This is not just about our farm. Not at all. It's about the community, the neighbors. The question of how many substations are in other parts of Henrico County that are much more densely populated (like the Tuckahoe area) has not been answered.

And lower property values help no one but buyers. No one wants their property to be worth less. No one wants their rural agricultural property (farmed or not) to suddenly be across the street from an industrial park - a concern brought up at the Community Meeting as a potential future, considering so many substations locations are surrounded by industrial areas, not where people live or where children go to school.

Our purpose has - from day one - to bring this to the attention of all the people who live in that area, to have a discussion, to ask questions, to have those questions answered. We are still working on that.
