Emma Lou Martin and her daughters Susan Singer and Sarah Abernathie, along with Sarah's daughters Jill, Jane, and Kate Abernathie, are creative people working in the arts. Emma Lou, well-known in the Richmond arts, has been a museum docent for many years, helped found Uptown Gallery and will show works in watercolors, pastels and collage. Her daughter Susan, well-known for her paintings of the human body, will be exhibiting pastels of landscapes from Iceland, the James River and the Outer Banks. Sister Sarah displays her artistic but practical objects, such as mosaic clocks and mailboxes and whimsical pet portraits. Daughter Jill creates psychedelic patterned paintings, Kate shows off her developing style and Jane, a nursing student, funnels her passion into artfully decorated cupcakes.
