Some of you may be hurting from St. Patty’s Day. Why not chill at the Byrd Theatre on Sunday for a performance by innovative and eclectic guitarist Gary Lucas (Captain Beefheart, Nick Cave) as he performs soundtracks for a selection of Fleischer Brothers cartoons including Betty Boop, Sinbad the Sailor and other favorite characters? Includes vocal accompaniment by Richmonder Caroline Scruggs. It’s all part of the musical lineup for this year’s James River Film Festival (see cover). 1:30 p.m. $10 in advance. $15 at the door. jamesriverfilm.org.
