Friendship, Trade and Feast

When: Sat., Nov. 30, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. 2019
Price: $7-$9.
Continue your Thanksgiving festivities through the weekend at Henricus Historical Park. On Nov. 30 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., guests can explore the story of the original 1619 Thanksgiving, which happened right here in Virginia. In addition to discovering the story of the true first Thanksgiving, interpreters will be demonstrating the common hunting and cooking techniques of both the Powhatan and English communities as well as the various trade items that both sides sought for their mutual comfort and the strengthening of their ongoing alliances. Musket and bow and arrow demonstrations will complete the day. This year's event is in partnership with American Evolution 2019 Commemoration's Customs, Cultures, and Cuisines festival which celebrates 400 years of Virginia's unique history and culture. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, Henricus is asking guests to bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to a local food bank.
