Four Alternative Richmond Valentine’s Day Events

1. You can bid on a date at the Black Valentine’s Day party, which raises money for independent radio station WRIR-FM 97.3. 3. You can drop your drawers and head to New Balance in Glen Allen Richmond for the first annual Valentines Day Underwear Run on Feb. 14 at 6:30 p.m. The 5-kilometer race, in two 1.5-mile loops, welcomes runners and walkers. Socializing at Growlers to Go afterwards. newbalance.com/richmond.

4. Looking for something earlier? Before all the amateurs start getting mushy and paying for affection, you can get out of town Saturday, Feb. 11, to celebrate with the single folks at Center of the Universe Brewing’s Anti-Valentines Day. The Something Shiny Band plays 6-9 p.m. cotubrewing.com.
