Re: “The Goldman Touch

Kazoo, 40 percent of the children living in the city live at or below the poverty line. I respectfully submit that any "long-term" assistance that might derive from the financial boondoggles the Mayor loves won't provide what is needed. I sure wish someone could explain why it is that our city is giving (on top of everything else) $500,000-plus to the Redskins ANNUALLY? Goldman totally nails it with this statement: “Richmond’s minority children, like millions of others, are victims of a political elite milking the system for pay, perks and special privileges at these youngsters’ expense. Sometimes that political elite is African American.”

Re: “Class Action

@readbetweenthelines ... WRONG. These parents want the IB program to work, not just for their kids, but for ALL kids. What is so wrong with wanting tax dollars to fund a "private school education" (meaning: high quality) for ALL Richmond students? Don't ALL Richmond students deserve better than what they are getting?

Re: “Class Action

@Kazoo2U2 ... Aucontraire, Were you to actually read the story and read the letter from the parents (click on the red type in the second paragraph), you would see that RPS has had three (3!) years to answer the questions that these parents have been asking. As to the reportage of the story, I think Wolf could have included a sentence saying that the RPS PR department did not answer by publication time or that RPS officials deny the parents allegations, but doesn't there come a point when the comments of FOUR school board members and the interim school superintendent take precedence over what a spokesman for the IB program in Switzerland might say? But, Kazoo, you are right -- the story does give rise to more questions and I surely do hope Style and Wolf will stay on top of this story.

Re: “City Job Center Delayed to 2012

Given the dead weight and wasted space in Richmond City Hall, I can't help put think Mayor Jones and ALL his consultants could certainly solve this. How about it, folks?

Re: “Under the Jail

I don't know what Kate Falcon knows, but I know enough about Mayor Jones to agree with Scott Bass that the ethically challenged financial actions associated with the Imani Intergenerational Development Corp. [click the red link above in Bass' story] should be a cautionary tale [and perhaps the subject of an investigation]. I do not trust Dwight Jones to tell the truth about anything after reading that information. Further, the recent revelations about his cozy deals with developers and "consultants" make me worry about the future of our city. I will call him "Mayor" when [and if] he starts acting as if he is "Mayor" of ALL the PEOPLE, not just the people who attend his church.

Re: “Is Church's County Chapel a Contradiction for Mayor Jones?

1. Sure, he can build a church wherever. Especially if he's the lead preacher at his church -- which he is (and which he said he would not be when he was running for election).

2. Making decisions based on race for decades was wrong and making decisions based on race today is wrong.

3. The only thing that makes me "cry" is your horrible grammar and bad spelling. How can you support a man whose tenure on School Board and in the General Assembly cheated you out of a decent education?
