Need a little outdoor challenge in your summer? How about this unique meld of a 6-kilometer trail run or 1-mile walk with a flat water tube across the James River? Even better, the James River Splash and Dash event is a benefit for the James River Association, and there’s an afterparty that includes live bluegrass music by Sturgeon City, beer from Hardywood Park Craft Brewery and local food trucks. For people 10 and older, you can register at jrsplashanddash.org and the cost is $50-$250 per team.
