If you missed St. Paul and the Broken Bones’ glorious summer appearance at Brown’s Island three years ago, here’s your makeup. The high-octane Birmingham, Alabama, soul and rock band returns for another sweat fest led by gritty singer Paul Janeway at the National on Wednesday, March 8, at 7:30 p.m. Guitarist Aaron Lee Tasjan of Drivin’ n’ Cryin’ and the New York Dolls opens. Tickets $23 to $26 (at door). thenationalva.com.

Here's a video that Arts and Culture Editor Brent Baldwin took from backstage during their Brown's Island show, featuring an amped-up ending to a cover of Otis Redding's popular version of "Try A Little Tenderness." Watch through to the end.
