Sept. 24

You have to wonder why anybody cares about another person’s sexuality. No doubt, people still do, but I’m not one of them. The only sexuality that matters to me is my own. Pride Fest 2016, the largest annual celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in the commonwealth, takes place Saturday, Sept. 24, on Brown’s Island. Sponsored by VA Pride, the family-friendly festivities feature a cornucopia of vendors, interactivities, consumables and entertainments to unite the LGBT communities throughout the state for a day of fun in the sun. Regardless of your sexuality, the much-anticipated event is a continual crowd pleaser and one thing seems sure: None of those contemptible idiots who want to decide your sexuality will be there. The good times roll between noon-8. Free. Call 592-1093 or visit vapride.org.
