Event Pick: Peace Beast and Pete Curry at Strange Matter

Nov. 13

Pete Curry

Originally this bill was headlined by Nashville Southern rockers Natural Child, who apparently canceled their entire tour at the last minute. That just means more time for the strong local acts, including the jangly guitar rock and lovely harmonies of Peace Beast (Kelly Queener, Alison Hancock and Joe Lunsford) and Pete Curry, one of Richmond’s brightest talents with melody. Curry especially has been busy lately, releasing an infectious indie pop EP, “Doin’ Nothin,” not long ago and quickly following it with the more recent, and totally different “Night Logic,” which is more dance influenced. The show happens Sunday, Nov. 13, with doors at 9 p.m. Come early at 7 p.m. and you can catch a free MovieClub showing of “Idiocracy,” the Mike Judge comedy that sadly predicts the future of our country. strangematterrva.com.
