Nov. 25

Formed in 1967, NRBQ is an original genre masher. We take multi-era and genre-influenced sounds for granted these days, but NRBQ — its full name is the New Rhythm and Blues Quartet — was one of the first American bands to seamlessly merge rock, pop, jazz, blues and Tin Pan Alley styles into its music. Though it never achieved the level of success of the era’s more parochial peers, the group inspired generations of musicians and listeners to expand their horizons. Led by pianist, vocalist and group founder Terry Adams, the latest incarnation of NRBQ brings its everything-including-the-kitchen-sink sound to the Tin Pan on Wednesday, Nov. 25. Showtime for the party parade through the band’s past, present and future is at 8 p.m. $25-$30. tinpanrva.com.
