It’s really hard not to like Shannon Cleary. I’m sure there’s something unsavory about him, but that’s true of anyone if you dig deep enough. From outward appearances, at least, the selfless WRIR-FM DJ, musician, Style contributor and local music advocate has proven himself an invaluable asset to the city’s creative class. On Friday and Saturday, July 22 and 23, Cleary and WRIR present Commonwealth of Notions Vol. 6, the annual homegrown music festival highlighting local melody-makers during two evenings at Gallery5 and Strange Matter. With an emphasis on all things indie, the festival features performances by Imaginary Sons, the Veins, Antiphons and others, including Cleary’s current group, Clair Morgan. Proceeds benefit WRIR-FM 97.3. See our calendar listings for show times and each night’s schedule of performers. wrir.org.
