Event Pick: Bob Dylan at the Coliseum

Nov. 10

Say what you want about Bob Dylan’s voice, but the recent Nobel laureate is arguably the most influential and legendary songwriter in American history. The 76-year-old has sold more than 100 million records, but his classic songs no longer sound familiar live, thanks to different arrangements, his unique phrasing and (let's face it) croak of a voice. However, true fans still find plenty to savor. This will be Dylan’s seventh time playing Richmond — the first was 1966 at the Mosque — so maybe it’s a lucky number. This tour he’s been adding an occasional encore performance of his friend Tom Petty’s “Learning to Fly.” The never-ending tour stops on Friday, Nov. 10, at the Richmond Coliseum, and he’ll be joined by his old crush, gospel legend Mavis Staples, as the opener. That’s two living legends for the price of one pop star. 7:30 p.m. $57 to $83. richmondcoliseum.net.
