Astronautilis

Astronautalis is indie hip-hopped tribalization, the solo project of Floridian rapper and producer Andy Bothwell. His original pirate material throbs with blunted inspirations. On the 2016 full-length release, “Cut the Body Loose” on Side One Dummy Records, the smoke-filled rooms of “In the Tall Grass,” “Running Away From God” and “Kurt Cobain” are red-eye assessments of rap and reason. Despite the beat-laden tranquility, his diction and delivery cuts through with clarity and purpose. Astronautalis brings his devil’s haircuts and hits from the bong to the Camel on Monday, Oct. 3. Joining him are Ceschi from New Haven, Connecticut, Canadian turntablist Factor Chandelier and Richmond’s own Black Liquid. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is $15. thecamel.org.
