Little Lesley and the Bloodshots

Despite the continuing advancements in the battle against breast cancer, it remains the second-leading cause of cancer death in women — claiming the lives of more than 40,000 Americans each year. A Night of Honky-Tonk Angels, taking place Saturday, June 13, at Capital Ale House downtown, fights the good fight against the dreaded disease. The annual fundraising concert for the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation features the female-fronted, going-to-fist-city-sounds of New York rockabilly warriors Little Lesley and the Bloodshots and Lara Hope and the Ark-Tones playing with Richmond’s own Vexine, Ameera Delandro and Alison Self. Beyond the worthwhile cause, this lineup of hear-it-now talent is the antidote for those afflicted with the debilitating effects of wallflowerism. They play their respective takes on Americana with a joy, commitment and enthusiasm. The death-to-cancer dance party kicks off at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10. capitalalehouse.com.
