Easy Rider

The 27-year-old has been at it since the end of its heyday, when he started practicing on his father's 10-acre property at age 11. Now one of the best, Hacker just came off a big win in late September when he took the checkered flag during the last race of the Grand National Series. He was out most of the season with a broken leg, but still managed to pull in two wins out of four races in a sport with a scoring system similar to Nascar. His next race is a local event Sunday (Oct. 13) at the Amelia Motor Raceway, which will feature everything from the pee-wees to the seniors. Hacker says it's the best short track on the East Coast. Races start at 2 p.m. $10. Children age 7-12, $4. Get directions at www.ameliamotorracing.com. —
