Down From the Hills

Armed with kazoos, washboards, hair combs and, well, pretty much anything that can be plucked, banged or rattled, The Wiyos pack a great deal of pride in their organic melodies. With their ragtime blues and country swing, The Wiyos may never make the Top 40, but there's some dignity in a homegrown hillbilly soul refusing to compromise. Their performance marks a homecoming for two group members, who have roots in Madison County and Richmond. The group comes to Ashland Coffee & Tea Thursday, Feb. 14, at 8 p.m. $12-$17. 798-1702.
