Dirty Richmond’s Favorite Looks

Rachel Albright and Chris Green “embody a really young, creative couple, which is reflective through the way they dress,” says Brian McDaniel, creator of the Dirty Richmond blog. “Rachel has the colors, the jewelry that she made and the mix of patterns.” Chris just “nails” the classic menswear look.

Ava’s Mickey Mouse sweatshirt with her hair in a top bun is “very symbolic of the freedom that VCU students have to dress,” McDaniel says. “The Mickey Mouse sweatshirt is kind of silly, but she manages to pull it off perfectly.”

“This trio just kind of blew me away,” says McDaniel of a group of friends at the Richmond Folk Festival. “I’ve never seen a cooler group of friends hanging out — ever.”

William Godwin is just an “all around cool guy,” McDaniel says. He’s on Broad Street, at Steady Sounds, with the latest album from Nelly Kate. “He has this vinyl record and film camera ready. A very casual Sunday outfit,” McDaniel says.

Gilline Santos on Harrison Street, on VCU’s campus. “The camel jacket with the knee-high socks and the added pop of color. The blue bag and crimson socks. A very good outfit,” McDaniel says.

A group of friends in Carytown, next to Need Supply Co. “The guy in the vest … he just does his own thing,” McDaniel says. “A really cool guy and those two friends visiting. It made a good composition for the photograph.”
