Re: “A Henrico group's plans to build a Maggie Walker monument come as a surprise to the Maggie L. Walker Historical Foundation, which has been planning its own monument.

WRONG. Neither Style Magazine nor Mr. Goodwein nor anyone else has talked with me about the National Council of Negro Women's effort to erect a statue of Ms. Walker SINCE 1999... 15 YEARS AGO. ALL of the quotations attributed to me in the above article are either NOT CURRENT OR JUST FALSE. Whomever at style wrote this article should put their name on it so they can be held accountable for these inaccuracies. For example, there is no plan to put a public memorial to Maggie Walker at a riverfront location. The two locations under consideration are Lone Pine Park and Abner Clay Park both in Jackson Ward; I am on the Public Art Commission and the Commission does have full funding to erect a memorial monument to Maggie Walker and I am not submitting a proposal for the PAC project nor for the National Council of Negro Women's effort.
