Mesha Maren’s gritty debut novel, “Sugar Run,” is set in rural West Virginia and tells the story of a young woman just released from prison for manslaughter who falls in love with a troubled young mother. Having written for Oxford American and Tin House among many publications, Maren is the Kenan visiting writer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and she’ll be in conversation at Fountain Bookstore. 6:30 p.m. fountainbookstore.com.
