David Hicks for Mayor? Pastors Should Reconsider

If the Pastors for Conservative Values really wish to draft someone to run for Richmond mayor because "they're tired of the fighting" ("Pastors Drafting Hicks to Unseat Mayor Wilder," Street Talk, Sept. 12), then former Commonwealth's Attorney David (I never met a cop I wouldn't indict) Hicks is the wrong choice.

At a time when crime was a major problem in the city, Hicks spent much of his time and his office's resources fighting with the police department and with Chief André Parker in particular.

Public safety is, and will probably always be, a major concern for the citizens of Richmond. Electing a man with a personal agenda against the police department as mayor would be disastrous.
