Created Equal Film Series in honor of Grady W. Powell: Underground Railroad: The William Still Story

When: Wed., Feb. 28, 6:30-8:30 p.m. 2018
Price: Free.
The life of one of the most important, yet largely unrecognized heroes of the Underground Railroad is brought to life in The William Still Story. The film explores the role abolitionists played in helping tens of thousands of men, women, and children escape bondage in the South as they made their way to northern states and even Canada. Not only did Still help with these escapes, he also took the great risk of keeping records of their movements in the hope of helping families reunite after escaping slavery. Created Equal is hosted by the Virginia Museum of History & Culture in partnership with the Richmond Peace Education Center and supported in part by Diversity Richmond’s Virginia Museum of History & Culture Guy Kinman Research Award. The 2018 Created Equal Film Series is presented by Bon Secours.
