Re: “Tongue Tied

Be we for or against the ACA, there is no excusing Ted Cruz' absurd willingness to demolish a home in order to replace part of the deck. Cruz is unusual in that he was elected in a statewide race- most tea party candidates for US Senate seats have gone down in flames despite (or because of?) ardent support from Jim DeMint and Sarah Palin. it is the House, not the Senate, that is their true power base. You cannot gerrymander a Senate Seat.

Re: “Thuds and Duds

One factor in this year's Governor candidate selection was the fact that candidates were picked in a republican statewide convention rather than a primary election. this had the result of giving us E.W. Jackson as candidate for Lt. governor, a guy who never could have passed the test of a primary election. Cuccinelli himself would probably have been defeated by Bill Bolling. mcAuliffe may not be that great, but at least he became the dem nominee by a process that was open to all Dem voters, unlike the Republican process that inevitably produced a slate of candidates who are pretty extreme.
