Re: “Theater Review: "Time Stands Still"

I think the vacillation of the character, James, is a strong nuance by Margulies. At times James becomes unreliable, whether due to intoxication, the stress of a wedding day, or finding out that his lover and new bride is in love with a ghost. He is forced to re-compartmentalize life as he knows it - which has literally blown apart in his face. His reactions and words are products of the moment, that serve his immediate needs. He undergoes a reconstruction of self. Personal contradiction is one of the most painful and confusing things to accept. This is not a neat and tidy play. The characters are all figuring out who they need to become; their constitutions are malleable. Personally, I don't know what could be more compelling theatre than to watch people become.

Re: “Burning Down the House

I, Charley Raintree, do resolve to not support the Firehouse Theatre Project in any way until the founding artistic director, Carol Androski Piersol, is reinstated as artistic director, pending the dissolution of the current Board. I will not create work, nor be in the audience, nor donate to, nor be in support of this space until this happens. If you are an artist (supporter, ticket-buyer, donor, student, technician) please join with us in posting this.
