Celtic Crossroads at the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen

Celtic Crossroads could quite possibly be the biggest traditional Irish performance since Michael Flatley began freakishly flailing his legs in Riverdance. Led by Michael McClintock (apparently you can't be famous in Ireland unless your name is either Michael or Patrick, or James Joyce) this seven-member musical ensemble fuses various forms of Celtic music from around Europe and the rest of the world together with the influence of European gypsy folk, North American bluegrass, and world classical and jazz. Using a number of unconventional instruments — ask your friends whether they know what a bouzouki is — the band plays the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20. $23-$25. 261-2787. — Mike Hilleary
