Re: “Virginia Lawmakers Considering Airbnb Bill With $10,000 Fine for Illegal Renting

As a small business/legal real b and b owner, I am doing this for my JOB. Its not extra income. I am a single parent and EVERY airbnb potentially takes business from me. Its easy to win at something if the rules are different for each competitor. This what we in business would term 'a level playing field'. And its not the big hotels who care as much as those of us who are small and do this for a living. The very least airbnb hosts should have to do is to collect occupancy tax, obtain a business license, and adhere to health, fire and safety codes.

While this fine may seem high, it is ONLY if airbnb hosts don't follow some simple, basic rules. they aren't being asked to follow all of the rules the real bnb's need to, just the bare minimum.

I fully support this.
