Re: “Bryan Laughlin, 35

I just have to say that upon visiting Remnant for the first time I did find it weird. It was nothing like what I had experienced in my lifetime of going to church. But the one thing that kept me coming back was how genuine the people seemed and how friendly they always were. Here I am 3 years later and those people have definitely proven that my first impression of them was true. Looking back I can't believe how far I have come in life because of the great love that the leaders and people of Remnant have for Jesus. They serve unconditionally and expect nothing in return. They helped my husband and me, who happened to be two poor students at the time, make a wedding possible, they payed our rent and other bills several times, they have gone out of their way to make sure we had places to live, in times of sickness they prayed over us and cared for us. They have always been there!!! This is not a cult. This is a church who is truly following Jesus' call to love the community regardless of the race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But before you say terribly harsh things about the people and leaders of Remnant, you should at least give yourself the chance to get to know them. You can't read the website and immediately decide who they are. You can't say you've never heard of ServeRVA so that must mean that they aren't doing any good. Visit Remnant, and then decide for yourself what you think of them. They don't have to be your choice of church, but that doesn't mean to bash them. These are real people with real hearts and real families. I'm so thankful for the pastors and friends that I've made since I've been in Richmond. So many of them have become family. So here is an honest comment from someone who was deeply impacted by Remnant in a good way.
