The Beatles' "Abbey Road," released in 1969, is a cultural touchstone that people can't stop touching. Tourists still flock to the street corner where the iconic album cover was shot, an image of four men walking across the street that has been referenced by other recording artists -- from the Red Hot Chili Peppers to Kanye West. At least two other acts (George Benson, Booker T. & The MGs) have recorded groovier versions of "Abbey Road" and now Richmond's Upper East Side Big Band, a 19-piece jazz outfit led by Samson Trinh and joined by pianist Adrian Duke, will cover the heavily traveled "Road" in its entirety at The National Friday, May 23, at 8 p.m. Bio Ritmo and Mills Family Band will also perform. $10-$13. 612-1900 or visit www.thenationalva.com.
