Oh hell no. It just doesn’t get any stone-cold foxier in the local DJ scene then this trio of crate-digging local ladies who go by the stage names DJ Mixie (Mary Silcox, there’s a pretty good song written about her by Eddie P and the Big East), Sister Goldenhaze (Sara Gossett, straight from the pages of a ’60s mod fashion magazine) and Area Woman (Eliza Childress, local artist extraordinaire who could make R. Crumb fall to the ground and latch onto her legs, crying). Expect to hear a little bit of funk, cumbia, reggae, disco, R&B and other eclectic vinyl vibes when these good friends bring their musical and personal charms to Balliceaux on Saturday, July 13, at 10:30 p.m. Free. balliceauxrva.com.
