Ricardo was a good friend during the time he was in Richmond, most of the time living just a few blocks west of VCU on W. Grace Street. I was always amazed by his ability to adapt to and overcome the "Southern" culture of Richmond. I didn't really appreciate how brilliant he was until he managed to go from GED to PHD in just a couple of years without having to stop at the usual spots along the way. Much of his poetry is on his website which I believe is maintained by his son. You may find a couple more recollections of Ricardo in my biographical notes online at
