Re: “A Tale of Two Terminals

its great that we have these two large venues for parties. I hope this era of good feeling lasts for years. The true test will come with high speed rail service and a way to get past the ACCA yard rail block. I've been told the ACCA solution will cost $500M.

Re: “As Martin’s Shutters Its Last Stores in Richmond, Neighboring Merchants Look to the Future

Trader Joes is owned by Aldi. The parent company seems intent on pushing the Aldi model nationally instead of Trader Joes so there's no reason to get your hopes up. Publix is killing it at Crossbridge on Staples Mill Road, so they'll probably be looking to expand to a new spot on the northside. Perhaps they can help revitalize the old Azalea Mall site?

Re: “Update to Richmond's Master Plan Underway for the City's 300th Anniversary

I was explaining to an Indiana businessman the unique and peculiar Virginia law in which the cities and counties are distinct jurisdictions with their own police, fire, schools and land use laws. He was astounded that such an inefficient model could exist. Therein lies the real problem with Virginia cities and until its addressed, we will never address the issues properly. The City has to foot the bill for so many regional activities that do not burden the budgets of the surrounding counties.

Re: “Twisted Ales Finds Its Space in Manchester

We need as many of these as the market will bear. I suspect, like community banks, they'll discover strengths in their competitors that'll encourage mergers and stronger financial power going forward. Some will make it, others will not. It'll be an interesting dynamic for the next decade.

Re: “Richmond International Raceway and AEG Live Announce Partnership for Classic Amphitheater

Richmond needs this mid-tier concert venue. Innsbrook is more of a big party with music going on. The National, et al, are small and VERY loud. I'm glad to see this venue enter the fray.
