Re: “Round-Up: Richmond Ranked Within Top 20 Arts Communities

Here is a great business model: City channels free use of public facilities to an out of town, for profit, corporation and subsidizes them with $$$millions over these past few years. And the City renovates the buildings with zero contribution from the global pig corporation. What a deal! Meanwhile City has potholes, broken schools, bad healthcare, etc.

Re: “Proposed Tax Increases Draw Arts Groups, Musicians and Cigarette Vendors

Take the subsidy money you give to that out of town facilities manager and give it to the not for profits that need it. Our money should stay here not fly off to Philly.

Re: “Five Takeaways From Mayor Stoney's $681 Million Richmond Budget

SMG is an out of town, for profit, global corporation based in PA. Why do they manage community facilities, given huge subsidy, and answer to no local board of directors? Is this a core citizens need?

Put the Grace St. Parcel on the market and see it's real value. Don't hand it to Elites in the back room behind closed doors. TRANSPARENCY MAYOR STONEY'

Re: “Richmond International Raceway and AEG Live Announce Partnership for Classic Amphitheater

The Classic Amphitheatre is no Wolf Trap. Acts come to venues for the most bucks which means highest prices and seat counts. This is doomed to fail.

Re: “Political Arts: Richmond's Mayoral Candidates Share Their Arts and Culture Platforms

And let's not forget the City borrowed $25m to fund Carpenter Center stage expansion. The juice is still running and no Broadway shows are there.
The real subsidy is well over $1m annually plus the Altria City funded improvements. All for audiences who come from the counties.
