Re: “FILM REVIEW: “The Post” and “Molly’s Game” Suffer From Different Setbacks”
And now "The Post" uses the publication of the Pentagon Papers by the New York Times and the Washington Post in 1971 as a metaphor for ... Hillary Clinton's loss of the presidential election in 2016 to Donald J. Trump ..."
Really? That's what it does? Who sees this film and thinks that the parallel jumping off the screen has to do with the defeat of a hack politician, rather than that between the whistle-blowing of Daniel Ellsberg and the whistle-blowing of Bradley/Chelsea Manning and Edward Snowden ? How they all were patriots, exposing government wrongdoing that rose to the level of (war) criminality, not to mention risking all to try to restore transparency to our political institutions, yet all were reviled and persecuted/prosecuted for being "traitors." (My, how we love our masters.) I didn't think of Hillary Clinton for one moment while watching this movie.
