Re: “Punk Rock Bernie Sanders Mural Goes Up on Broad Street

Why I do Not “Feel the Bern”

“Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely” - Lord Acton 1887

Before this year I was never interested in politics too much. Although, I knew I didn’t like our current president and never had, I just stayed out of politics because I didn’t feel like it mattered in my life directly at the time. But with this election I have a lot more to think about now that I have two children that have to grow up with the consequences of an uninformed, lazy and entitled generation who can’t wait to charge into the voting booth to cast their votes for the 74-year-old ex-hippie Bernie Sanders who didn’t have a real job until he entered his 40’s because Bernie wants our nation to be completely dependent on the government. Our youth love the sound of this because this makes things easy for them, right? Free this, free that. Government assistance all around! Bernie wishes to raise taxes to pay for all of these “free” things he thinks everyone is entitled to. So all of you out there voting for him...I highly doubt you’re going to like your paychecks when he’s through with his tax plan. And remember that if something is free to you that’s only because someone else is paying for it. But Bernie Sanders is okay with this. Encourages it, actually!
The generation of lazy is okay with it as well because it comes out of someone else’s paycheck. Bernie Sanders is a democratic socialist. Does that sound good to you? Okay. This is what it means.
Socialism as per the Merriam-Webster Dictionary online means “A way of organizing a society in which major industries are owned and controlled by the government rather than by individual people and companies.” Does that still sound good to you? Okay.
Communism as per the Merriam-Webster Dictionary online means “A way of organizing a society in which the government owns the things that are used to make and transport products (such as land, oil, factories, ships, etc) and there is no privately owned property.” How about now? If you vote a socialist into office you are opening the doors and paving the way for communism.
Democratic leaders push for change, change, change when we should be preserving the tradition and social stability that our country was built on. Yes, sometimes changes are necessary in a government as the world around us changes everyday but that change must be made gradually with ease as to not abruptly upset our way of life. Democratic leaders wish to implement an unlimited government. Here is the issue with that, “Limited government provides a basis for protecting individuals rights and promoting the common good in contrast to unlimited government which endangers these values. Limited government is constitutional government. Unlimited governments include authoritarian and totalitarian systems. The rule of law is an essential component of limited government. The central notion of a rule of law is that society is governed according to widely known and accepted rules followed not only by the governed but also by those in authority” (civiced.org).
Do you like common core? Do you want your children to be subjected to a test that will determine what they are and are not “good enough” for? One test. What if your child has the brains and determination enough to be a surgeon, scientist, therapist, etc but when they sit down to take this test they get nervous and maybe don’t do so well on it. Then after all the grading is complete they’re told they’re only smart enough to learn a woodworking trade. Well that is exactly what will be kept in the schools by voting another democrat socialist into office. That is not equality!! Taking more and more money out of a hard-working man/woman’s paycheck to give to someone who chooses not to work solely based on a lack of effort and ambition is not equality!!
If you think that Bernie Sanders is the best choice to be our president because he makes life sound easy I ask you - no, I beg you, please rethink your decision. Voting this man into office is only going to continue the demise of our once great and prosperous nation. Our country deserves to have a Republican in office who will work to sustain and preserve tradition. It is not a question of which candidate would benefit you most as a person but which candidate would benefit our country, our safety and our well-being as a nation. Do your homework, find out what each candidate stands for, how they plan to deal with the issues that we face. Most importantly, please take into account which one truly cares about the country and isn't just using talk to gain votes. It shouldn’t be a popularity contest. Don’t let our country slip through the cracks. Donald Trump is rude and arrogant? So what! He has a head for business and cares about our country and the safety of the people. This might make me unpopular but if I can change at least one mind with this, I'll be happy. We deserve to be safe and we deserve equality. You will not find those values with a democratic socialist president. Vote #TRUMP2016
