BIG Easy Grille & Raw Bar; None Such Place; Strawberry Street Festival

Take a short trip to the New Orleans French Quarter by visiting the BIG Easy Grille & Raw Bar, recently opened in the Quioccasin Station Shopping Center.

The BIG Easy is a new theme restaurant dreamed up by restaurateur Steve Fixman, former Blue Marlin managing partner. The theme is New Orleans, with ceiling fans slowly rotating over the glowing light from large lampposts and lanterns. Take a seat at the casual raw bar to feast on shrimp, oysters, crab and crawfish. The main menu has all the standards — steak, seafood, salads — with a few more interesting choices like the drunken duck appetizer and the étouffée and jambalaya entrées.

The BIG Easy is open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday, with brunch on Sunday. 8982 Quioccasin Road. 740-6128.

has reserved its dinner dining space for special functions only, Monday through Wednesday. Don't worry, you can still get a table at the Shockoe Bottom restaurant for dinner Thursday through Saturday, and for lunch any day during the week. Franklin and 8th streets. 644-0832.

The annual Strawberry Street Festival returns for its 21st year Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at William Fox Model Elementary School on Strawberry Street in the Fan. Copious amounts of scrumptious food will be provided by Fan-area restaurants. The event also promises live music, arts and crafts and the Kid's Korner section with a petting zoo, games and rides. Proceeds benefit William Fox.
