Second place: Toys That Teach
Third place: Taboo
Honorable mention: The Toy Shoppe

For kids and kids at heart, World of Mirth continues to be one of Richmond’s favorite places to shop. The colorful Carytown mainstay advertises itself as “a place where Dr. Seuss meets ‘Pee Wee’s Playhouse,’” and its fun-house mirror and well-curated selection of gifts certainly prove the point.

From classic games and books to arts and crafts to wooden baby toys, World of Mirth offers plenty of pastimes for customers of all ages. Puppets, robots and fun science experiments abound at this store, and for adults there’s all manner of snarky gifts, humorous socks and playful umbrellas.

The store remains closed because of the pandemic, but is offering curbside pickup, as well as free local delivery within 15 miles for orders of $50 or more.
