Chalk it up to the sizzle, not just because it's a steakhouse. "It's more of a dining experience to come to our restaurant," general manager Daniel O'Neill of the soup-to-nuts menu and 300-plus wine list at Ruth's Chris. "When you come here, it's like going to a night at the opera. You get all dressed up, and it's all about the oohing and ahhing." Staying on top is like having a target on their back, he says, ensuring, "We always have our game on seven days a week, 365 days a year." Richmond's own Buckhead's, around since 1994, comes in second with multiple Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence acknowledgments for its 700-plus bottle list. Morton's, tucked into a side street in Shockoe Slip, boasts the appropriate clubby steakhouse vibe with a mahogany bar, leather booths and a sommelier to guide your wine experience.
