Second Place: Glory Days

Third Place: Gus’ Bar & Grill

The locally owned sports bar Home Team Grill is the first stop for Virginia Commonwealth University fans who want to catch a game. It’s almost as if the abundance of TVs, nine kinds of wings and a Havoc burger are designed to make them feel right at home. The secret of the Sports Page is cater to yourself. The owners are sports junkies — Rob Jones was manager of the Richmond Renegades — and wanted to create a place where they’d like to hang out. “We’ve got 60 TVs at the Midlothian location and over 70 in Mechanicsville,” manager Scott Mitchell says. “Richmond’s got a lot of people who didn’t grow up here and have allegiances to other teams.” Killer Buffalo wings made with fresh — never frozen — chicken don’t hurt, either.
